Start your first WordPress blog.

First thing you need to do is register a domain name if you don’t already own the domain you want.

  • Make your domain readable.
  • consecutive letters are frowned upon, at least by me. ie. Webbrowsing.com … I dont like the way  consecutive letters look in marketing materials.
  • more than two words is really pushing it, there are plenty of domain names with 2 words that can still be “thought” of and purchased.
  • unless you are a domain management pro or better, I suggest using Godaddy for domain registrations.

Second thing you need to do is decide a web host. There are literally 100s of web hosts to chose from. If you are just starting out or you blog is receiving less than a 5000 page views per day I highly suggest using Godaddy for its ease of use and 24 hour tech support. Godaddy also has 1 button WordPress installs.

With hosting plans for as little as $4.99 a month, there is little risk.

Once your hosting account is purchased you can visit “The Godaddy Hosting Connection” for software installs including WordPress. Its much easer to wait an hour an let Godaddy perform the install, and that is my suggestion.

If Godaddy is not for you, one of the suggested hosts by WordPress.com is BlueHost. Still need help? You can always hire me. @7rex
